When to Enroll
OPEN ENROLLMENT PERIOD (NO HEALTH QUESTIONS ASKED)
The best time to purchase a plan is when you first enroll in Medicare Part B. You have a six month guaranteed issue period beginning on the first day of the month in which you are both 65 years of age and enrolled in Medicare Part B. During this time no health questions will be asked.
GUARANTEED ISSUE PERIOD (NO HEALTH QUESTIONS ASKED)
There are several situations that qualify an individual for guaranteed issue, including leaving an employer plan, losing creditable coverage, and state specific rules such as the California Birthday Rule.
ANYTIME YOU ARE IN GOOD HEALTH AND WANT TO MAKE A CHANGE
You can change your Medicare Supplement Plan at any time, but your application will go through underwriting if you are not in a guaranteed issue period. This means you will have to answer several health questions before being approved for coverage.

Once you have determined which company and plan you would like to enroll in, you may choose any of the following enrollment methods.
OVER THE PHONE
Many Insurance companies allow for telephonic enrollment. Please note, the phone call may take up to 30 minutes and payment must be submitted at the time the application is completed. Companies that do not offer this technology may refer you to a local agent or mail you a paper application.
COMPLETE A PAPER APPLICATION
All companies will accept a paper application along with a check for the first month premium. Please note, though many prefer the paper application enrollment method, it will significantly lengthen the enrollment process. ENROLL ONLINE
Most companies offer an online application. This is the best option as enrolling online significantly expedites the enrollment process as application processing times are significantly reduced. This means your application will be processed within a few days and you will receive your policy and insurance cards in the mail within 10 business days.
